KOFIC USA to host First Annual Korean Film Festival KOFFLA 2007
The Korean Film Council (KOFIC USA), in partnership with Korean Cinematheque, will be hosting the first annual Korean Film Festival in LA (KOFFLA) at the Fairfax 3 Theatre, located at 6907 Beverly Blvd., from Nov. 15 to Nov. 18. Sponsored by the Korea Times and the Hollywood Reporter, KOFFLA will have this theme for its inaugural year: “It’s Alive: Korean Film Genre Hybrids and Hollywood Remake” KOFFLA will conclude a three-city series of film screenings ? after stops in Chicago and San Francisco from Nov. 1 to 11. This series of festivals aims to introduce Korean cinema to avid moviegoers by showcasing a collection of unique and provocative contemporary Korean films. In line with the theme, total 17 movies such as THE QUITE FAMILY, DRIVING WITH MY WIFE’S LOVER, MY WIFE IS A GANGSTER, A SHOW MUST GO ON, SO CUTE, and A DIRTY CARNIVAL will be shown. In addition to the screenings, KOFFLA seeks to encourage discussion on Korean cinema by providing a panel discussion on the future of Korean films in Hollywood on Nov. 15. Selected for its diversity and its mixture of different genres, each film presented during the festival is a sample case for Hollywood to review and to even remake. KOFIC USA invites Hollywood producers and directors, as well as Korean producers and directors, to explore the different films and then attend the conference, and perhaps a relationship to co-produce a Hollywood remake may be born. KOFIC was established in 1976 by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism to promote the country’s film industry. Initially founded as the Korean Motion Pictures Promotion Corporation (KMPPC), KOFIC started endorsing films under its current name in 1999. Since then, KOFIC’s objective has been to increase the awareness and appreciation of Korean films by promoting the development of both Korean and Korean American films. Its achievements include the Filmmakers Development Lab (FDL), a Korean film database, and various film festivals and screenings. In 2006, KOFIC launched its first U.S. branch office, KOFIC USA, in Los Angeles.

I am helping organize an event for the Korean Hostages in Afghanistan this Thursday in Koreatown Los Angeles. It would be great if you can attend or even help spread the word. Please read below for more information.
Thanks!

Another life lost, needlessly. On Monday, a second South Korean hostage in Afghanistan was killed, joining Bae Hyung-Kyu, the leader of the 23 members of an aid group who were kidnapped two weeks ago by the Taliban, as another casualty in a war that has claimed the lives of so many innocents. The turmoil that may appear so distant and far removed from our own lives, in places like Afghanistan and Iraq, does indeed impact us. You may have asked yourself, "What can I do to help?"
We have decided to act now. Come be educated on the state of affairs in Afghanistan.
When: Thursday, August 2nd at 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Where: The Korean Education Center located at 680 Wilshire Place, Los Angeles, CA 90005 (located next to Southwestern Law School parking lot.)
Guest Speakers from the Afghanistan Consulate General Office and the Korean American Coalition.
There will be an informal after-event at The Prince restaurant (un-hosted).
The Prince 3198 W 7th St.
Los Angeles, CA 90005 (213) 389-2007

| so, i cracked... 22 days... hahahhahaha - for all those people that say, "I knew it.." this was dedicated to you haha.
But just to clarify, it wasn't at a bar, it wasn't at a club, it wasn't even for or with a lady... it was with the boys on a camping trip this weekend.
Here are a few formulas I came up with. Camping - beers = no fun 9 guys + peer pressure = ted getting trashed haha
Good times boys, we must do this again.

| So I decided in the month of May to quit drinking. This doesn’t mean that I don’t like drinking, don’t like partying or that I am purposely denying shots from you to offend you, this is more like a personal commitment to see if I can go a month without drinking. Why? Health, money and curiosity in seeing how a month is like without drinking..
Now I feel like I’m writing a journal as a recovering alcoholic… hahaha
This weekend, week one was pretty tough… Birthday party in Melrose and a cinco de mayo/de la hoya vs mayweather fight/graduation party filled with unlimited Coronas. It definitely was “an experience” being one of the few “sober ones” sippin back on some H2o.
I think the funniest thing about this weekend was my sober club experience. Going to a club sober is like revisiting your Junior High School dances – everyone that’s dancing looks silly, there’s the anxious boys schemin for some action (hey I was one too Haha) the girls that caked on their makeup, the gangsta fights that break out and you're observing all this while sippin back on some oj, coke, or sprite – if only there were some slow dances haha
I need a drink,..I’ll post a note when I decide to crack hahaha
Make sure you catch the warriors tonight 7:30 PM- all bandwagon fans welcome (even you Mr. Charles Barkley).
If anyone has any extra tickets to any of the home playoff games, let me know I’m trying to find tickets to the games.
happy cinco de mayo - we got the colors all mixed up haha
